Java Post Productions uses GridIron Nucleo Pro to deliver Corner Gas,
Canada's Highest-Ranked Comedy

Java Post Productions, based out of Saskatchewan, Canada, is a high-end post-production company. The firm manages visual effects, color correction, multi-screen presentations, duplication, and mastering all while working in either standard or high definition (SD/HD) formats. For example, look no further than Canada®s highest ranked comedy show, ®Corner Gas,® where Java Post implements its HD expertise through editing, visual FX work, and colour correction.

Jack Tunnicliffe, owner of Java Post, has been a producer/director for over thirty years. He has directed broadcasts during the Lake Placid, Sarajevo and Calgary Olympics, as well as Canadian Football League games in the 1980s. In 1988, Tunnicliffe started Film Crew Productions, later to become Westwind Pictures, with partner Clark Donnelly. After realizing there was a need for post-production in his home province of Saskatchewan, Tunnicliffe started Java Post.

After Effects + Nucleo Pro = Fewer Coffee Breaks + Increased Creativity

®For the weekly ®Corner Gas® episodes, the footage is shot in 16 mm for the organic look of film and then converted to HD for broadcast. Unfortunately, this conversion can highlight anywhere between 1000 and 2000 specs of dust in single episode which then need to be hand painted out. With Nucleo Pro, we can clean up a scene, send it to render, and move onto the next task.®

Added Processors, Reduced Downtime by More Than 50%

®When GridIron introduced Nucleo Pro, our production pipeline got a jolt of caffeine. We added two quad-processors and equipped both of our production suites with Nucleo Pro and After Effects 7. The hardware and software update alone helped us cut rendering time in half. But, when I consider the overall productivity, I feel we reduced downtime by more than 50%. For instance not having to think about where to send a render and manage that machine also saves time. Then when you consider the ability to continue working, as a render chunks away, productivity savings add up even further,® continued Tunnicliffe.

Java Post is also currently doing TV commercials for radio broadcaster Rawlco Communications (with stations such as JackFM, Z99, in Regina, C95 in Saskatoon, and Magic 99 in Edmonton). The commercials feature bands such as the Rolling Stones and The Eagles. Plus, Java Post is doing online finishing for ®renegadepress.com® and commercials for British Columbia Lottery Corporation and the Poker Championship which air nationally in Canada.
